Norrington likes it because he’s set up to be this insufferable hardass who always gets outsmarted by everyone else, but every time he’s on-screen he becomes more and more likeable. He’s brave, smart, honourable, a good fighter, and a great leader.
When Elizabeth chooses Will over him, the only thing he’s concerned about is making sure Will treats her right and he suspects that will be the case so he wishes them well.
You kinda feel sorry for him because he clearly would have been a great husband for Elizabeth. He deserves to be happy just as much if not more than any of the other protagonists and you Also know our top favourite Jack Sparrow known as Johnny Depp is also the all-time favourite to the fans of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Black Pearl is one of the favourites of all his fans and our only favourite Jack Sparrow is the Captain of this ship. We love Jack’s motivation. With all the double-crossing, lying, cheating and such, Jack has one goal: to kill Barbossa with the single bullet he’s been carrying for nearly a decade.
When captured, he always put extra effort into regaining his possessions, including that pistol. He cares little for Will and Elizabeth, they are simply a means to an end, a path to get his revenge.

When we rewatched it this year we were astonished at how much of it is real sets. There are very few outlandish fantasy locations like in all the sequels, and most of it takes place in Port Royal, which is a huge set, or on the many ships that they all built and sent to sea to film on.
The action itself is also incredibly hand-made. The Ghost Pirates are (very good) CGI, but almost all other set pieces, fights and action sequences are practical / stunt work.
Curse is smaller but much more tangible than the other films. CGI is always best as an enhancement rather than the main selling point. Filming an entire film in front of a green screen always feels rather forced.
We think it also hurts that the actors are having to imagine what they’re looking at instead of interacting with their environment. Having watched the first three ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films again after not having seen them in years
Now obviously the reception was mixed about 4 and 5. We did not say that we disliked four, and enjoyed five but not for its quality so much as its fun. We have always been an avid fan of ‘Curse of the Black Pearl’ and it has been pretty much the only one we have continuously watched over the years.

Dead Man’s Chest is quite successful in upping the ante, twice the swashbuckling and twice the weird quasi-mythology (which we were able to accept very easily thanks to execution), we kept our characters interesting whilst establishing new ones that remain memorable in our opinion.

Johnny Depp of course makes the movie with his swish-buckling (yeah, we misspelt it on purpose) approach to the character, and you couldn’t ask for a more fetching lady in distress than Keira Knightley.
Although she managed to hold her own against most of those menacing pirates quite nicely. Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush round out the rest of the principal cast, and each did a superb job. We’ve never gotten beyond this movie’s sequel, ‘Dead Man’s Chest’, but watching this one again inspires me to go forward and check out all the rest.
